Around 200 countries exist there in world. By this one thinks that country is a very big area with large number of people living in it. Yes it is true in case of most of the countries. Some countries are very large for example countries like Russia, Canada, China, US and India are gigantic countries.

But some countries are very small both in area and population. Many countries even have area less than 400 square kilometer.

In this Blog I am just going to mention last ten countries which are smallest in this world. Smallest 10 countries are on area of around 1491.4 square kilometer that is less than the area of largest city of the world. These countries exist with their own culture and government.

Now let’s take a look on ten smallest countries found on planet earth.

10 – Grenada - 344 km²

Grenada is located in Caribbean. Grenada is in the shape of an island. Grenada is also called as “The Island of spice” because it is world’s largest nutmeg producer country. Previously this country was colonized by French Government from 1649-1763. Cricket is most played sport here in this country.

9 – Malta - 316 km²

Malta is also an island country, located in in the Mediterranean Sea. It is 9^th smallest country of the world with area of 344 square kilometer.it has population of around 0.5 million individuals. Gozo, Comino, and Malta are three islands that collectively make Republic of Malta.

8 – Maldives - 300 km²

It is located in the Indian Ocean. Maldives is the smallest country of Asia in terms of area and population. About 1,192 coral islands are there in the Maldives, with area of over 90,000 sq.km, making it one of the world's most dispersed and beautiful countries. Got independence in 1965 from British rule. The Maldives is famous due to its famous white sand beaches and crystal blue waters.

7 Saint Kitts and Nevis - 261 km²

These two islands are some of the first discovered islands in the Caribbean. These are also called as The Mother Colony of West Indies. They were also under British Empire in past.

Economy depends on tourism, agriculture, and small manufacturing industries. This country is very beautiful because of its natural diving sites and abundant marine life.

6 Liechtenstein - 160 km²

This country is completely located in Alps. German is spoken in this country.it is located between Switzerland and Austria. It one of the richest countries in the world by GDP per capita and has the lowest unemployment rate that is 1.5% here. Still ruled by a Prince. One has to use Airport to go in this country.

5 San Marino - 61 km²

San Marino is also known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino. San Marino Surrounded completely by Italy. San Marino Claimes to be the oldest surviving sovereign state in the world. It is the 3rd smallest country in Europe with a population of only 30,000 and one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world.

4 Tuvalu - 26 km²

This country is located in north east of Australia. This country was called Ellice Islands formerly with population of just 10,000 inhabitants. There is only only 1 hospital present in the country. Country was the territory of British empire but gained independence in 1978.

3 Nauru - 21 km²

Nauru is also an island nation that is located near Australia. This country is the smallest island country of the world.it was known as Pleasant Island in past. All its economy was based on phosphate resources which are now totally depleted creating 90% unemployment rate in the country. 97% men and 93% women are obese here making this country place of most obese people. Population is around 1000 and official languages are English and Naruan.

Monaco is the country with the largest number of millionaires and billionaires per capita in all over the world. It is located on the French Riviera, Bordered by France on three sides and one side by the Mediterranean Sea. Mostly French is spoken in Monaco. It has population of 36,000 people.
