Pakistan has always been a great attraction for the most diverse landscapes, features, miles long beaches around the world with the Pakistani landscape ranging from the sea to the high mountains and sprawling desert. Kaghan Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys.
Kaghan Valley is closest to the country's plains here it is relatively easy to reach. Because of improved Transportation and good housing facilities millions of tourists visit Kaghan valley every summer. Charming lakes, beautiful Cascades, natural springs, lush pastures, the glaciers, rivers and forests invite tourists to view Kaghan valley. From Balakot to The Babusar top the valley is 161 km long. The waving Kunhar River Passes through Valley Giving youth to its beauty .Best season to enjoy the beautiful scenes of nature here is from June until November.
Kaghan valley is named after the town of Kaghan rather than for the Kunhar River which flows through the length of the valley. If you love hiking, trekking or fishing, then Kaghan Valley is like heaven.
People of Kaghan Valley
The local people are friendly and simple. Popular languages are Hindko and Gojri, while Urdu, Pakistan’s national language is also familiar among the locals.
How To Reach?
Kaghan Valley is located in Hazara division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern provence of Pakistan. It is at a distance of 120 km from Rawalpindi. If you are intending to travel from Rawalpindi then take bus going to Abbottabad or Mansehra. From thre you can easily get a coach to Balakot . Trevelling through taxlla, Khanpur, Nowshera, HassanAbdal and Abbottabad Balakot arrives in four to five hours from Mansehra.
The road to Kaghan Valley is frightening due to the deep slopes to the river on your left and lofty mountains on your right. The first ten miles are almost barren mountains but when the valley raises to about 5,000 feet forests of pine and fir appear, densely overgrown with a variety of plants, which has won for Kaghan the epithets of ‘the botanists paradise’.
Balakot
This big and modern city of the Kaghan valley.It is surrounded by lush mountains and Kunhar River passes through the city. At night it is difficult to distinguish between stars and Bulbs lightning in homes at the top of mountains. Tourists usually do a two day stay here.You can easily get a ride to visit the valley from Balakot city. Other spectacular places in valley are as follow.
Shogran
Shogran is located at a distance of 34 km from Balakot it is famous for its lush green lawns and you can enjoy the view of siripay from here. Mostly it attracts Families. Hotels and motels are present here so you can rest here in shogran. There are lots of boarding and lodging facilities. Siri is one of the most beautiful places here, which is located at an elevation of 600 feet, 4 km from here. This path leads to the foot of the Makra. On the other side of the Makra valley is Kashmir. There are many water fountain and a small lake.
Kaghan
Though from Balakot to Babosar Top all the area is called Khagan Valley but actually this name comes from Kaghan Village Located 40 km from kiwai. Beautiful landscapes decorated with local handicrafts and dry fruits shops make this valley remember. Thanks to its unique beauty. There are also many hotels for room and board.
Shingri
Shingri is locted just above the Kaghan village, while standing in kaghan bazaar you can see the ptcl towers on ShingriTop towards east at 12,700 ft above sea level offering superb panoramic views of Kaghan Valley.
Naran
24 kilometers from Kaghan the most beautiful point of the valley is located named as Naran. A glacier welcomes all visitors to Naran. The whole valley is full of beautiful landscapes. Half kilometers on both sides of the road are hotels and restaurants of every class. This cup-shaped valley is the tourist destination. Jeeps can only go next from here which are present in large numbers in Naran. There is also a Trout Point in Naran but do not forget to get a license for it.
Lake Saif ul Malook
10 km from Naran at the hight of 10500 ft from sea level a most beautiful lake of Pakistan “lake saif ul Malook” is located.Half of the way to lake Saif ul Malook is travelled by jeeps then jeeps cannot go any further. So, you will have a mule ride from there to visit lake. Tuck shop and a few restaurants are present on the way. Lush mountains and numerous small glaciers are present.
And in front of lake 17360 feet snowy peak of Malika Parbat is present .The mirror image of this peak in lake water is stunning even better than the original mirror image. The Story of Prience Saiful malook and a fairy Badri Jamal is famous here in this area and increases the beauty of lake. Local people believe that Fairies come there to have bath on every full moon night.
Lalazar
16 km from Naran it is area of Batakundi .From here a vertical thorny path leads to valley of deep red flowers and pine trees “The Lalazar Valley”.Lalazar is ideal place for lovers of Camping. The icy winds whispers in the ears and tourists are showered by perfume treasures. Here tourists forget there selves and enjoy beautiful scenic surroundings.
Lake Lulusar and Lake Dudipatsar
These are two beautiful lakes in the valley 34 km from Batakundi. Due to very dangerous path only few tourists visit this place. Anyway, every beautiful place is not for everyone. Almighty God, for those who demonstrate commitment and courage hase made some valleys away from the highway. 3 km long lake of Lulusar is the source of Kunhar River.You can reach there by jeep but you have to trevel five to six hours on foot to reach Lake Dudipatsar.
The road from Naran passing through Babusar Top meats Karakoram Highway at the point of Chilas. From Babusar Top you can have a beautiful view of Malika Parbat and many other peaks.
